Installation of Brass Separation Line at SIA “Metalekspo”
SIA “Metalekspo” has successfully delivered and installed a brass separation line, acquired within the framework of Project No. 2.2.2.1/1/24/A/004 “Establishment of a Brass Separation Line at Metalekspo.”
The installation of this line will enable more efficient and environmentally friendly waste processing by ensuring the separation of metal fractions — including brass, copper, aluminum, and other metals — and the production of high-quality secondary raw materials. This will allow the company to maintain consistently high product quality and expand the possibilities for reusing recycled materials
The brass separation line has a processing capacity of at least 11,660 tons of waste per year, a significant portion of which will consist of waste generated in Latvia.
The project is being implemented with co-financing from the European Union Cohesion Fund.
This investment empowers SIA “Metalekspo” to maintain high product standards, broaden the use of secondary materials, and actively contribute to the development of sustainable manufacturing in Latvia.
Creation of a Brass Separation Line at the Company "Metalekspo" (Project No. 2.2.2.1/1/24/A/004) SIA METALEKSPO has launched a project aimed at establishing an efficient and modern waste recycling facility,
which includes the acquisition and installation of a brass separation line. The sorted and shredded waste from
electrical and electronic equipment, as well as metal waste, will be separated by metal type and processed into
secondary raw materials (metal granules).
The implementation of this project will promote the production of high-quality secondary raw materials, which can be further
used for manufacturing new products in various industries, including electronics, construction, and transportation.
This initiative will encourage sustainable resource use and reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfills, thereby
significantly decreasing environmental pollution.
The project also includes organizing public education and environmental awareness activities to enhance public
understanding of waste sorting and encourage people to recycle discarded electrical and electronic equipment.
It is expected that with the processing capacity of the new brass separation line, the amount of processed waste
will reach 11,660 tons per year.
The total eligible costs of the project amount to €1,754,300, of which €1,190,275 will be co-financed
by the Cohesion Fund. The project is planned for implementation in 2025.
The project is being carried out within the framework of the European Union Cohesion Policy Program for 2021–2027,
under Specific Support Objective 2.2.2. "Promoting the transition to a circular economy", within
Measure 2.2.2.1. "Waste sorting, recycling, and recovery", as part of the first selection round.
